We use three symbols to show how numbers relate: > “greater than,” < “less than,” and = “equal to.”
Think of > as a hungry alligator—it always eats the bigger number! If both sides are the same, the = sign shows they’re twins.
🔍 Three Easy Steps
- 1. Find each value. Work out the sums or expressions.
- 2. Line them up. Write the two results side by side.
- 3. Pick the symbol. Point the alligator mouth (>) at the bigger number—or flat if equal!
