What is the value of the hundreds place?
Expanded Form Step by Step ๐
Letโs understand what each digit in a number really means!
Expanded form helps us see the value of each digit based on its place.
For example: 5,149
๐ First, break it by place value:
5,000 + 100 + 40 + 9
๐ Now, write it using multiplication:
(5 ร 1,000) + (1 ร 100) + (4 ร 10) + (9 ร 1)

Roman Numerals Lesson
Do you know that long ago, people in Rome didnโt use numbers like 1, 2, 3? ๐ค
They used special LETTERS to show numbers. These are called Roman Numerals.
Here are some of them:
- I = 1
- V = 5
- X = 10
- L = 50
- C = 100
To make bigger numbers, they added these letters together.
Letโs take an example ๐
86 can be written as 80 + 6.
80 = LXXX โ (L = 50 and XXX = 10 + 10 + 10)
6 = VI โ (V = 5 and I = 1)
So, 86 = LXXX + VI = LXXXVI
